Preparations

During my study abroad trip, I will be in Sydney, Australia for about 3 months to do my Student Teaching.

Well, this whole process has been a journey. I decided I wanted to go abroad over Christmas Break in December/January of the 2016-2017 school year. When I returned from break, I met with my advisor and told her my plans. She was super excited for me but told me we needed to get started on the preparations ASAP. The program I am going through is actually through the University of Minnesota, Morris. This made the whole process a bit more difficult for me because not only did I have to apply through UND, I had to apply through U of M as well. So double the application and double the hoops to jump through. I finally completed that by the due date in March and they started working on my placement.

I have been placed at the International Grammar School in Sydney, Australia in a 4th grade (year 5) classroom. I am so excited to see their way of teaching and learn techniques that will come in handy when I come back to the states and start my own journey as an elementary teacher.

At this time, I need to look/ and book my flights, finish up my application for living which will be with a host family, and get my visa. It doesn't sound like a lot by this summer is flying by. Hopefully the next time I post I have completed some of those final steps.

I hope you enjoy this post, and I look forward to sharing the rest of my journey as well!
