Today I woke up, got ready, and walked to the bus stop. I then got to school right around 8, got the board ready, and printed off the materials I needed for the day. Mr. Engelbert was a little late so I was beginning to worry he wouldn't be in, but he finally came so that was good!
I then started the day off with going over my expectations again. We went over them at the beginning of the term, but they have been crazy because it's the last week of school so yes they are excited but I just wanted to remind them that there is still things to learn, I am here to learn from them, and I don't want any attitude when asked to do work. This helped a lot then when we moved into our math lesson so that was good. They are still really chatty, but what's new! I get it, I'm kind of over the term as well but I still show up and but in the work so they need to do the same.
The day then carried on like normal. After school then, I worked a bit on lessons for tomorrow before I had to meet Jeanette at Central Station around 4:20.
From Central then, we made our way to Croydon to go to an awards night for Fraya (the Chinese girl that stays with Jeanette on weekends because she has tutoring on weekends so doesn't stay at her boarding school). This went from 5-7. We then caught a train and a bus home.
Once we got home, I took a shower while Jeanette made supper. We then ate, just the two of us again. We aren't sure where Takuya was.
After supper then, we watched some of the ARIA (an Australian music awards show). I then updated my blog, got ready for bed, and went to bed around 10. Happy hump day tomorrow! :)

Today I got up, got ready, ate breakfast, and walked to the bus stop. I got to school a little before 8 so I sat in the hall and waited for Mr. Engelbert to get there since the teacher next door wasn't there either.
The day then went on like normal with working on plays, learning more about percent, a grammar lesson, and a spelling lesson. Because it is the last week of school the students have been a bit crazy and giving some attitude. Tomorrow I plan to go over some expectations with them to say that just because it's the last week, they still have to listen and do the work.
After school then, I got the board ready and headed home. I then FaceTimed Luke really quick and then started right in on homework and lesson plans. I hope to get all caught up so if there's a nice day during the week, I can go to the beach instead of doing work! :)
I worked on homework until supper was ready around 7 pm. Then after, I finished up my lesson for tomorrow, updated my blog, got ready for bed, and then read for a bit before I went to bed around 10.

Breakfast = fresh fruit + yogurt + 1 slice peanut butter toast + milk
Lunch = burger + fries + water
Supper = I was still full from lunch so I only had a blueberry and yogurt energy bar
Today I got up around 7:30, got ready, and meet Anne at the bus stop to catch the 8:33 bus stop. We then also caught a train and went to Bondi Junction. We then met up with another one of her friends for a coffee before church. Once we were finished with our coffees (hot chocolate for me) we walked to the church because it was such a nice day.
Church was at 10 and we got done around 12. We then headed to Bronte Beach, ate lunch, and chatted with some friends. After awhile then we went to Bondi for a bit before we had to head to Central where we were then going to meet the bus to go to Hillsong (another church). This service started at 5 and we got done and left around 7. This was after getting the free coffee I got for it being my first time and also checking out the resource shop. I really enjoyed Hillsong and want to try to go to one in the States as well! :)
I then got home around 8, unpacked my bags and cleaned up my room a bit, showered, and then updated my blog. I then got ready for bed and went to bed around 10. Let the new and final week of student teaching start tomorrow!

Finally got to Bondi Beach, along with most of Sydney today by the looks of it!
Hillsong was amazing to go to tonight!
Hillsong is known for their music and it was almost like being at a concert during their praise and worship time! So good! :)

Lunch = sandwich + fruit (I had a pretty late lunch because I actually got to sleep in and have a later breakfast!)
Supper = pork and onion pizza + water
Today I got up around 10. I finally got to sleep in, and after a long week it was really nice. I then got up, got ready, and walked to the post office to pick up my package my mom had sent. She accidentally sent it to the wrong address so that's why it took so long to get here and we never got a card of it because they weren't sure what house it should go to. I finally got it though and inside were about two dozen cookies! :)
After that, I FaceTimed my my parents and sister back home. We talked for a little over an hour. Then I went for a walk/ run that lasted for about an hour and twenty minutes. It was so hot out that I didn't run much, but it was still really nice to get outside.
Once I got back then, I showered and then I FaceTimed Luke for awhile. I had to wait for him to get home from being with family, so that's why I had gone for my walk and didn't talk to him earlier.
Luke and I talked for about an hour. After we got done talking then it was already almost 4 pm and I was meeting Jeanette in the city around 7 so I didn't think there would be time for me to go to the beach. So, I worked on some homework and planning so that was good. I then left a little after 6 to catch the 6:17 bus, but while I was walking I saw it go by at 6:15, so I then decided to walk to the station because the next bus wasn't until 20 minutes and I could walk the mile in less then that, plus I got more exercise in then for the day!
I got to Circular Quay right around 7pm and waited for Jeanette to meet me there. We then went to the Opera House to look around and see everything. We also got information for upcoming shows and such and I hope to go to the orchestra on Wednesday! It was a lot of fun and really cool to see.
After that, we walked to the pizza shop and had some supper.
We then walked to Martin Place, the Queen Victoria Building, and Town Hall to see all the trees and lights put up for the upcoming Christmas season. It was really pretty and a lot of fun!
We finally got a train and bus and got home around 11:30. I then quickly got ready for bed and went to bed, I'm meeting Anne in the morning for church so another earlyish morning.

Today I got up a little earlier, got ready, ate breakfast, then called to FaceTime my family (everyone who was at my Grandma and Papa Harder's place) on Thanksgiving their time. When I called they had just finished up eating lunch so I got passed around the table to talk to everyone for a quick bit before I had to leave and catch the bus. This was really great and I'm glad it worked out to talk to them.
Once I got to school, I printed off the materials I would need for the day, got the board ready, and put up the pictures my mom had sent me of the table and family.
Students then started coming in around 8:35, the read quietly, I took roll, and then we quickly went over the picture and some more information on what my family was doing at home. I had taught a lesson on Thanksgiving on Thursday but this just gave them some more information and made it a little more personal by me sharing stuff about my family.
Then the day started and went on like normal.
At 12:20 the student went to music and I was able to go back to the room, get some things read for Monday, and then head out because we don't see them Friday afternoons. I wish was the case when I start teaching back home but sadly I don't think I'll get that lucky.
After leaving, I went to Paddy's market where I had gone last week. I exchanged a shirt and found the last of my Christmas gifts I needed to find for people! Yay.
After Paddy's, I went to the DFO (Direct Factory Outlet) to look around and see if they had any good deals for Black Friday. The traffic there was terrible so I only had about 45 minutes before I had to leave because I was meeting Anne in Bondi Junction around 6 to go to church at 7. I ended up being a bit late, but luckily we had plenty of time.
Church started at 7 and it didn't get done until 9:30! Stacey Campbell, who is from Canada, spoke and it was a really great message. I highly recommend looking her up!
Then after church, by the time we caught a train and a bus it was around 11:30 when we got home. I talked to Jeanette then for a bit, got ready for bed, and went to sleep quickly after that. This week was exhausting but it flew by. Now on to have a great week and finish up with my last full week of teaching next week! :)

11-23-2017 Happy Thanksgiving
Weather: High of 74 degrees with mostly sunny and clear skies.
Breakfast = fresh fruit + yogurt + 1 slice peanut butter toast + milk
Lunch = salad + banana + gluten free blueberry muffin
Supper = we went to the hotel where Louis works and the staff knows Jeanette and Paul really well so we were literally treated like royalty. The chef brought out about 5 starters while we were waiting for our meals. I had ordered another starter of lamb with beetroot sauce and it was really good. Paul had also ordered a bottle of white wine. After that we ordered a chocolate tart and a lime tart for all of us to share which was really nice. It was just enough so I wasn't stuffed. The manager also brought out 3 shots of coffee flavored patron for Takuya, Louis, and me. It smelt terrible but the after taste actually wasn't too bad.

We then had our last day of sport (rock climbing all afternoon).
Once we got back to the school, I got the board ready for tomorrow, corrected some work, finished one of the books I borrowed from the library. Then I walked to Darling Harbour because this is where we were all meeting to have supper because Louis is moving out this weekend so it was like a 'goodbye' supper and it just so happened to land on Thanksgiving so that was really nice. Before supper I looked around the shops and got a few more gifts for people back home!
Around 6:45 we met and had supper. We got all the food above, plus both Takuya and Louis had tenderloin, and Paul and Jeanette ordered some more bread and shared some curry. All of this food and the bill was only around $125! The staff, chef, and managers love Jeanette and Paul and since Louis works there he got a good discount too so it was really great food and it was a lot of fun as well!
After supper then, we got the light rail and then a bus home. We finally got home around 10:30, I got ready for bed, and went to bed shortly after. I was exhausted but it had been a great day!

Today I got up, got ready, ate breakfast, and walked to the bus stop. I walked to a different one today because it was raining and this other bus stop had a little enclosure 'thing' around it so I didn't have to wait out in the rain.
I got to school around 8 and got the board ready, printed off materials, and looked over my lessons again for the day. We then went to assembly and I didn't see them again until 11.
The day then went on like normal. The principal also came in and told them the new leaders for next year. This was the results from the voting they did after their speech day last week. There were a lot of emotions, some happy and some sad, but at least they know the results now. Having said this though, he came in right in the middle of my lesson and then after hearing the news and with all the emotions the drama lesson was a bit out of control, but oh well. This happens and for the most part it still went alright.
At the end of the day then, I got the board ready and corrected some papers before I went to a staff meeting. At this meeting, she talked about the data received from the survey students, parents, and staff took about the school. This meeting lasted for about 25 minutes and it didn't really seem like it had a purpose so it wasn't the best.
After the meeting, I finished correcting some work and then finished my book before I had to leave to catch a bus and train to go meet Jeanette. We were meeting at Town Hall so we could go look at the different Christmas decorations and shops.
We met around 5:45 and looked around for a bit. We then caught a train around 7:30, then a bus and got home around 8:30.
Once we got home I updated my blog, got ready for bed, read for a bit, and went to sleep around 9:30. I'm exhausted, but tomorrow is Thursday! Yay! :)

Today I got up, got ready, ate breakfast, and walked to the bus stop. I walked to a different one today because it was raining and this other bus stop had a little enclosure 'thing' around it so I didn't have to wait out in the rain.
I got to school around 8 and got the board ready, printed off materials, and looked over my lessons again for the day. We then went to assembly and I didn't see them again until 11.
The day then went on like normal. The principal also came in and told them the new leaders for next year. This was the results from the voting they did after their speech day last week. There were a lot of emotions, some happy and some sad, but at least they know the results now. Having said this though, he came in right in the middle of my lesson and then after hearing the news and with all the emotions the drama lesson was a bit out of control, but oh well. This happens and for the most part it still went alright.
At the end of the day then, I got the board ready and corrected some papers before I went to a staff meeting. At this meeting, she talked about the data received from the survey students, parents, and staff took about the school. This meeting lasted for about 25 minutes and it didn't really seem like it had a purpose so it wasn't the best.
After the meeting, I finished correcting some work and then finished my book before I had to leave to catch a bus and train to go meet Jeanette. We were meeting at Town Hall so we could go look at the different Christmas decorations and shops.
We met around 5:45 and looked around for a bit. We then caught a train around 7:30, then a bus and got home around 8:30.
Once we got home I updated my blog, got ready for bed, read for a bit, and went to sleep around 9:30. I'm exhausted, but tomorrow is Thursday! Yay! :)

This tree is in the Queen Victoria Building, and when I took this we were on the 3rd floor so it went all the way from the ground floor to the top of the ceiling on the 3rd floor! It was huge!
These are kind of hard to see, but when we were walking home we saw a bunch of 'birds' in the sky. All of those black dots in the sky are bats! There were tons of them. I've never seen that many! It was cool yet creepy at the same time!

Today I got up, got ready, ate breakfast, and called the school back home to show my interest in the para position that opened up. I then walked to the bus stop and got to school around 8 am.
The day carried on as normal and my lessons have been going really well. The students started writing their plays that we will present next week. These plays will include a shipwreck, getting to the island, plants and animals, finding food and water, building a shelter, and the natural disaster they ran into. I am super excited to see how these go and the students seem to be really into it as well.
After school then, I got the board ready and walked to the bus stop. I then went home, changed, then went for a 3.5 mile run in 35 minutes! Once I got back, I did a quick 15 minute ab workout, showered, and started working on some homework until supper was ready.
We were going to go to a movie tonight, but Lewis didn't want to go and it was a little last minute so I told Jeanette maybe we should wait for another time.
She then came home and we had supper around 7:30.
After supper then, I got ready for bed and read some out of my book until 10.

Today I got up, got ready, ate breakfast, and walked to the bus stop. The bus was really late so I ended up taking the L23 which has limited stops so I still got to school on time.
Once I got to school, I got the board ready and printed off resources for my lessons. Mr. Engelbert came in later than normal and he then told me he had fallen off his bike (motorcycle) on his way in this morning. He was alright, but his hip and ankle were pretty bruised and scraped up under his jeans and shoes. The whole day then, you could tell he was pretty sore so I hope it's better tomorrow. He now stated that when there is a chance of rain he will be riding the bus to work because I think the road was too slippery and his wheels don't have very good traction.
Then the day started and I was the teacher for the whole day (and everyday for the next 2 weeks as well). I think my lessons went pretty well and I am feeling more confident and it's becoming easier to teach which is great. I must be learning something! :)
We were done around 2:35 today because at the end of the day they go to music so I quickly got the board ready for tomorrow and headed to the bus stop.
I waited for quite awhile, but I finally got home around 4. I then called Luke quick to see how the rest of his weekend had gone and what his plans were for the upcoming week (I forget it's Thanksgiving because they don't celebrate it here). I then did a 45 minute workout and a 15 minute ab workout. Then I 'showered' in the tub (hopefully that's fixed this week) and started on some homework while I waited for supper to be ready.
We then ate around 7:15 and talked about the day and upcoming week. It was only Takuya, Jeanette, and me for supper since Paul went home and Lewis is ALWAYS working.
After supper then, I went back to homework, updated my blog for today and yesterday, read some out of Withering-by-Sea, got ready for bed, and went to bed around 10:30. I can't believe how fast today went! :)

Lunch = half a peanut butter sandwich + rice cakes + banana
Supper = sandwich with tomatoes, lettuce, ham, peppers, and butter + water
Today I woke up, got ready for the day, talked to my parents and Luke. I tried to do some lesson planning which I got some done but not a whole lot.
After talking to them, I then packed a bag and got ready to go to Cronulla Beach. It was such a nice day and finally on the weekend so I wanted to go and enjoy it.
I took a bus and then 2 trains to get there. I only had about and hour and a half there before I had to leave to catch the train for church. Even though I wasn't there for very long I was still able to get some sun and a tan so that was good! :)
I then packed up and changed for church. I then had to wait 20 minutes for the next train to leave so that was a bit annoying.
I finally got to church around 6:30. It started at 6, but the first is praise and worship (singing) so I guess that's better than missing the sermon part.
The service went until around 8. Anne and I waited around for a bit and talked to people afterwards so we didn't leave Jubilee until around 8:45.
We then got a ride to the train station by one of Anne's friends. Then we caught a train to Central, and due to track work we decided to catch a bus for the remainder of the trip. We had to wait for the bus for quite awhile so I didn't get home until 10:30.
Once I got home, I ate a banana quick because I was quite hungry. I then got read for bed quick and went right to bed. I was exhausted and I have a big week ahead.

Supper = lamb + steamed veggies + salad + mint ice cream sandwich + water
Today I got up around 8, started my light colored load of laundry since I did the darks on Thursday. I then got ready for the day, ate breakfast, then packed a bag to take when Jeanette and I went out.
We then left for Marrickville because I wanted to go to the second hand shops and she wanted to go to the health food shop. We got there around 11 and left around 3. Needless to say, we both really like to shop :)
After Marrickville we then went into the city. We had planned to go see a bunch of things today, but because it was already after 3 we decided to just eat and then look at the Christmas decorations around the shops.
Once we got to the city, Jeanette dropped our bags off at her work so we wouldn't have to carry them around for the remainder of the day. Then we went to the huge food court in one of the malls and had lunch (yes around 4). After this, we wondered around the shops and I was able to get some more Christmas shopping done so that was good!
Finally around 6:00 we headed to the train station. We took a train and a bus home, and arrived back home around 7. Jeanette then started on supper and I unpacked my bags and talked to Luke quick.
We ate (Jeanette, Paul, Takuya, Fraya(a Chinese girl that's been coming on the weekends because she is in boarding school but she goes to a tutor on the weekends so she needed a place to stay. Jeanette and Paul are also her guardians here because when she came she was only 15 so she needed guardians because she was a minor. Now she is 17 and in 12th grade so she is almost done with school and plans to go to college here as well), and I). Then after supper, I vacuumed my room, updated my blog, tried to do some homework, got ready for bed, and read for a bit. I went to bed around 11.

Today I got up, got ready, had breakfast, and walked to the bus stop. I then got to school around 7:45. I don't know why the bus was so fast today, but I didn't mind.
Once I got to school, I waited outside the door because I didn't have a key and the teacher next door wasn't in yet. While waiting I updated my blog from Thursday.
Mr. Engelbert came about 5 minutes later and let me in. I then got the board ready and finished updating my blog.
Fridays are really relaxed and they have a lot of other stuff going on outside the classroom so I was able to clean up my files on my computer, read emails, and help the students with their reports whenever they needed. It was a nice 'break' even though I was still teaching.
At library, I borrowed 4 books for the next week. All of them were books students had recommended and I thought this would be a great way to not only connect with my students, but find out what kind of books 5th graders like to read. The four books I checked out are, 1. Withering-by-Sea by: Judith Rossell, 2 and 3. The first and second book in the Lost World Circus series by: Justin D'Ath, and 4. the first book in The Land of Stories series by: Chris Colfer. I'm excited to read them and talk about them with my students.
We were done around 12:20 with the students for the day and then Mr. Engelbert and I went over the plan for next week. Because I am teaching full time, he let me plan the schedule which was nice to be able to plan everything from the beginning. I then finished up some work, ate lunch, and headed to the Broadway Shopping Center. I've been looking for a 2018 planner for quite awhile and all the ones I find are too expensive so i wanted to check out target and kmart to see if they had any. I also looked around the stores for awhile too.
I finally found a planner at kmart for $5. It was exactly what I was looking for and it was super cheap so that was great. I also got found my Christmas dress and H&M for $5. Bargain shopping at its finest!
After this, I got on a bus and went to Paddy's Market in Market City. Here I found some Christmas gifts for my family.
I was only there for about an hour so I plan on going back some other time to find more goodies for gifts. It's pretty reasonable prices as well so that's always nice.
After the market, I got a train and then a bus back home. I finally got back around 6:30, showered in the tub again, and started Withering-by-Sea while I waited for supper.
We ate supper and then afterwards, I watched a show with Jeanette. I then watched a little bit of a Harry Potter movie that was on, got ready for bed, and fell asleep. It had been an exhausting week, but only 3 more to go before I come home! :)

Today I woke up, got ready, ate breakfast, and walked to the bus stop. I got to school around 8 and got the board ready since I hadn't done it the night before.
Once students started to come in, they were either to read quietly if they had finished their reports or grab a computer and get started on that right away.
Then the day started. Thursdays are pretty easy because we have sport all afternoon so that's nice. The day carried on like normal.
Once we got back from sport then, I got the board ready for tomorrow and headed to the bus stop. I was then stopped on the way by two ladies who approached me and asked if I had time to listen to a '5 minute speech'. I said yes (5 minutes was fine and I thought that maybe they were part of a university and this was an assignment so I thought it would be fine). It turns out they were part of a church and wanted to talk to me all about God and the 'bride'. I do believe in God and go to church often, but once they came to the part about the 'bride', I wasn't so sure. They also stated that their church is the only church I the world who believe in the bride, so right there some red flags went off. I am always getting pulled into these types of things so from now on I'm just going to be blunt that I don't have time or keep walking because if I wanted to hear about that stuff I would seek it out on my own.
I finally got on a bus and just went home instead of going to the gym. I was tired and didn't want to spend that extra time.
Once I got home then, I ordered some gifts off Amazon, had a quick snack, then did a 45 minutes workout and 15 minute ab workout off my app. I then showered in the tub (we have a shower head hookup so it wasn't too bad), got cleaned up, and read some before supper.
We finally had supper. Lewis was at work so it was Jeanette, Takuya, and me.
After supper then, I got ready for bed and read (and finished) my book. I had borrowed Harry Potter and the Cursed Child from the school library so I wanted to finish that before library tomorrow. So, I read a little under 200 pages, finished it, and then went to bed around 11.
Tomorrow is Friday! Yay :)

1:00 - Sport (All the gym teachers are gone this week for a conference, so Mr. Engelbert had to help with a different sport and a substitute helped me take our group to rock climbing)

Today I woke up, got ready, ate breakfast, and walked to the bus stop. I got to school around 8 and got the board ready since I hadn't done it the night before.
Once students started to come in, they were either to read quietly if they had finished their reports or grab a computer and get started on that right away.
Then the day started. Thursdays are pretty easy because we have sport all afternoon so that's nice. The day carried on like normal.
Once we got back from sport then, I got the board ready for tomorrow and headed to the bus stop. I was then stopped on the way by two ladies who approached me and asked if I had time to listen to a '5 minute speech'. I said yes (5 minutes was fine and I thought that maybe they were part of a university and this was an assignment so I thought it would be fine). It turns out they were part of a church and wanted to talk to me all about God and the 'bride'. I do believe in God and go to church often, but once they came to the part about the 'bride', I wasn't so sure. They also stated that their church is the only church I the world who believe in the bride, so right there some red flags went off. After their speeches then, all of the 4,5, and 6th grade students along with the teachers will vote on who the next leaders for these positions will be for next year)

I then took the bus to the gym, ran 3 miles and did a 15 minute ab workout. I then showered and made it to the bus stop by 6:58, to which I waited about 30 minutes for the next bus to show up :/ so I didn't get home until about 7:45.
Jeanette and I ate supper then. Takuya was out and Lewis was working so it was just the two of us.
After supper then, I got ready for bed and read for 30 minutes from my book. I went to bed around 9:45. I was exhausted.

Today was also the day that Australia got their votes back on whether same sex marriage should be legalized. A ballot was sent out and the people had to send back their votes. This wasn't compulsory, but about 79% of the country's population returned their ballots with their votes. Of that 79%, about 62% voted yes. Now this bill has to go to parliament and that process before it is passes. The whole school was mostly in favor of this. I was surprised that it hasn't been passed already. But when I first came here there were 'Yes' signs in a lot of the windows so it's been going on for quite awhile.

Today I got up, got ready, ate breakfast, and walked to the bus stop. I got to school around 8 and got the last minute things ready for the day.
I was teaching all the lessons in the morning and they went really well. For topic, I was able to explain my expectations for the paper more and give them better examples which cleared up some lingering questions they still had. For math, I also did a K-W-L charts with them and we used the little whiteboards to draw a pyramid and prism. By doing this, the students stay more engaged and it makes the lesson more fun as well.
Finally after lunch, they worked more on their papers and most of them are either done or really close to finish. I told them this was the last class time they would have to work on their paper, so if they didn't get it done it would be part of their homework for the week to get done by Friday.
After school then, I corrected the math work they had done. I then packed up my stuff and headed to the gym.
At the gym, I decided to go for a swim and I swam a total of 810 yards! I love swimming and it is a great form of exercise as well so that was good. I then quickly showered to get ready to meet Jeanette and head to a movie.
After my shower, I realized I forgot my hair brush. I had enough time so I quickly went home. Jeanette then texted me and said that it was too expensive where we were going to go, so we decided to go to the same place we went last week. This worked out well because I knew better where I was going and also, the movie wasn't until 6:30 so I had plenty of time to get home.
I then meet Jeanette around 6:25. The movie 'started' at 6:30 but there is about 20 minutes of ads so we went and I got sushi for supper.
We finally got to the movie and found our spots. We went to "Murder on the Orient Express" and it was really good. So far, all the movies I have seen here have been really good. I also like going in the middle of the week because it's a nice break in everything that's going on.
After the movie, we got the train back to our suburb. We then went to the grocery store quick because we had some time to waste before the bus came. I personally would've rather walked home, but Jeanette seemed really timed so I didn't say anything.
We got home around 10. I quickly got ready for bed. I didn't read or anything I just went to bed. With all the exercise and school I've been pretty tired, but this way I sleep really well! :)

Once I got to school, I got the board ready with the date, schedule, and quote for the day. I then went over my lesson briefly with Mr. Engelbert because we had already covered it last week, so I was going to recap the expectations and then hopefully get right in to writing.
The lesson went well for the most part and most of the class got a good start on their papers, but looking back, I should've gone into more detail with the directions and rubric they would be following. I had it in my head that we went over this on Friday, but it was actually Wednesday so that's awhile ago. I therefore plan to go more in dept tomorrow and hopefully clear up any questions they might still have.
After this lesson, the day went on as normal. I helped out where I could, but as for my lessons, I was done for the day.
Once the kids went off to music I got the board ready for tomorrow, figured out my capstone assignment, and talked to Mr. Engelbert about my upcoming lessons for tomorrow. I am teaching a math lesson about prisms and pyramids and we both agree it should be a really great lesson. Yay! Slowly but surely I'm getting the hang on lesson planning.
After school then, I got a bus and went to the gym. At the gym, I ran 3 miles straight, Yay :), did a 45 minute workout off my app, plus a 15 minute ab workout off my app as well! I then showered because our shower at home is getting fixed this week so we are without one until Friday I believe.
After the gym, I caught a bus and it just so happened that Jeanette got on a few stops afterwards. This was nice because then we could talk about our day and also walk with someone home.
Once we got home, I caught up on social media and cleaned out my gym bag so my towel and thins would dry before tomorrow.
Then it was time for supper. Takuya, Lewis, Jeanette, and I all ate together. It started off the 3 of use without Lewis because we all thought he was at work so Jeanette didn't call him to supper, whoops!
After supper then, I finished up some homework and lesson planning, caught up on my blog, got ready for bed, and went to bed around 10:30. Goodnight everyone!

Lunch = banana + rice cakes
- For a snack at the movies, I had popcorn and an ice cream cone
Supper = salad + steamed veggies + beef + cheesecake + water + lemonade
Today Anne was out of town so I didn't go to church but I watched/listened to the live stream online. Because of this, I got to 'sleep in' until 8:30. I then got up, got dressed, ate breakfast, then called a friend to catch up for a bit. I then talked to Luke again for a bit. After this, I did at 30 minute workout, showered, then got ready to catch the bus.
I was running a bit late so I ran all the way to the bus stop which is almost a half a mile.
I then caught the bus to the train station. From there I went to Central to catch another train to Hornsby where I was going to meet Jeanette for a movie.
We saw "Home Again", and it was really good. Jeanette's mom also joined us so that was nice too.
The movie finished around 4:30 so we had half an hour to look around the shops. I then go a smoothie and we went to catch the train home.
From leaving the movie theatre to getting home took about 2 hours. Public transportation is great, but it takes forever. Once we got home, I quick FaceTimed Luke for his birthday. Then supper was ready.
After supper I updated my blog, got ready for bed, read a little bit, and went to bed around 9:30. It has been a long, but awesome weekend. Now back to reality tomorrow.

Supper = burger + fries + water + ice cream bar
Today I got up around 8, got ready for the day, ate breakfast, and then called my parents. I talked to them for almost 2 hours! Then I called Luke and talked to him for almost an hour before he had to go.
Once I got off the phone with them, I changed and got 'more ready' for going out. Jeanette and I then left to go to Balmoral Beach.
We got to the beach around 2:45, walked along the shore and then found a little place that was more protected by trees from the wind so I was able to lay out and tan for about an hour and a half. We then walked further along the beach on the other side, and down by the jetty. It was a fairly nice day but the water was too cold so I didn't go swimming. It was nice to get some color though. Mays well use the sun and get a tan while I'm here! :)
We then got some food while we waited for the bus. I got a burger and Jeanette got fish and chips.
We then made our way to Burwood where we were going to see a movie if it was cheaper, but once we got there we found out that the cheaper tickets ended at 5. Oh well, we were both exhausted so we caught the train and then a bus back.
Once we got back, we had a little supper and then watched the movie 'Flight Plan' which was pretty good. During the movie Jeanette also made a call to the police because there was a huge party going on at a house one street over and the music was so loud the whole suburb could probably hear it! Pretty soon though they got it turned down, so that was good.
After the movie then, I got ready for bed and read a little out of my book. I was so tired. I went to bed around 11.

Once I got off the phone with them, I changed and got 'more ready' for going out. Jeanette and I then left to go to Balmoral Beach.
We got to the beach around 2:45, walked along the shore and then found a little place that was more protected by trees from the wind so I was able to lay out and tan for about an hour and a half. We then walked further along the beach on the other side, and down by the jetty. It was a fairly nice day but the water was too cold so I didn't go swimming. It was nice to get some color though. Mays well use the sun and get a tan while I'm here! :)
We then got some food while we waited for the bus. I got a burger and Jeanette got fish and chips.
We then made our way to Burwood where we were going to see a movie if it was cheaper, but once we got there we found out that the cheaper tickets ended at 5. Oh well, we were both exhausted so we caught the train and then a bus back.
Once we got back, we had a little supper and then watched the movie 'Flight Plan' which was pretty good. During the movie Jeanette also made a call to the police because there was a huge party going on at a house one street over and the music was so loud the whole suburb could probably hear it! Pretty soon though they got it turned down, so that was good.
After the movie then, I got ready for bed and read a little out of my book. I was so tired. I went to bed around 11.

Today I got up, got ready, had breakfast, and walked to the bus stop. I got to school around 8 and starting writing my reflection journal that I have to hand in every Friday to my supervisor.
Once the students started coming in, I helped check their homework and then Mr. Engelbert took roll. After that, the day carried on like normal. At library, I checked out Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling. I've been wanting to read this for quite awhile so I figured why not read it now when I have access to it.
After my day at school, I went to the Broadway Shopping Centre to mail some postcards and exchange some money. Then I walked to the Central Train Station to catch a train and then a bus to the DFO (the big outlet mall with a lot of sales). I spent about 2 hours here. Then I caught a bus and a train back to Newtown where I got another bus to the gym. At the gym, I swam laps for about an hour. I love swimming but man its tough work, therefor it made a great workout!
After my swim, I changed and caught another bus. I then walked home and hot back a little after 7. I quickly showered and then it was time for supper. We ate and then I updated my blog while watching the Harry Potter movie that Jeanette had on the TV. I then watched some more of the movie, got ready for bed, ready some in my book, and went to bed around 10:30. Today was a long day, but it was really good today!
*I only have 3 weeks and 2 days left of class, and I fly out exactly 4 weeks from today! I can't believe how fast it's gone! :)

Today I got up, got ready, ate breakfast, and walked to the bus stop. I was lucky and got to the bus stop right when the bus arrived. Jeanette was gone because she was watching her granddaughter today so the house was pretty quiet when I was getting ready.
I got to the school about 15 minutes early, so I got the teacher's keys from down the hall and let myself in. I didn't have a lot to get ready for the day so I checked my emails and updated my planner.
Once Mr. Engelbert arrived, we talked about yesterday and how things had gone while he was away.
The day then went on like normal and pretty quickly because all of the afternoon we had sport which is always a nice break.
After we got back from sport, I grabbed my bag and headed home.
On the way home, I thought about stopping at a few thrift shops but decided against it because I wanted to get back and have some time to unwind before working out.
I got home around 4:15, had a quick snack and decided to read some out of my book. I then went for a 5.5 mile walk, came back and did 30 minutes of yoga to help loosen up my legs, showered, and then it was time for supper.
After supper, I updated my blog (from yesterday as well because I forgot to add my lunch and supper meals), got ready for bed, read some out of my book, and went to bed around 9:45.
Yay, tomorrow is Friday!

Today I thought I set my alarm for 5:45 like I always do. Once that goes off then, I set it for 6 or 6:10 depending what I think. Well, today I woke up at 5:33 to what I think was my alarm going off. I thought it was weird but reset it for what I thought was 6. I then woke up at 6:18 and my alarm handed gone off. Luckily I woke up, because when I had check I had reset it for 5. Whoops. I quickly got out of bed, got ready, ate breakfast, and walked to the bus stop.
Once I got to school, I updated my blog from yesterday and as I was doing that 2 teachers came in. They then informed me that Mr. Engelbert was sick and one of them was the sub that was going to be helping out today. I then checked my email, and sure enough he had emailed and gave me an outline for what to do during the periods he was supposed to teach.
It worked pretty well for the most part. There were a few behavior problems and student not listening, but nothing too major.
After school on Wednesdays, we usually haver professional development meetings so I asked the teacher next door if we had something. She said there was a meeting with the other year 5 teachers and she would let me know what to do since Mr. Engelbert wasn't here.
While I waited, I got the board ready and neatened up the classroom some. After I had done that, she still hadn't come back so I just left. I'm not sure if I was supposed to do this but oh well.
I caught the bus and got home around 4:40. I then had a quick snack of fresh fruit and yogurt, did dishes for Jeanette, and then changed into my workout clothes.
For my workout, I did a 45 minute high intensity workout plus a 15 minute ab workout.
I then got done and showered quick before supper.
We ate around 7:30 which is a little later then normal so I'm not sure where Jeanette had been, oh well. None of us will starve! :)
After supper then, I finished my blog for today, got ready for bed, read some of my book, and went to bed. After the late night I had last night I'm pretty tired. Goodnight!

Today I got up, got ready, ate breakfast, and went to the bus stop. The bus was running behind and there was a lot of traffic so I didn't get to school until 8:15!
Once I got to school then, I already had the board ready and my quote up, so I just looked over my lessons and prepared for the day mentally. :)
All of my lessons went really well so I was happy about that. I am getting more confident with teaching math so that has relieved a lot of stress and anxiety when it comes to lesson plans and teaching.
In bootcamp, the kids were boxing so I got to partner with one of the kids and let him hit my hands for practice. It was a lot of fun and because I was participating, it made the time go by faster as well.
I also got all of my correcting done during the day so after school I was able to get the board ready quick and head out.
I went to the gym after school. Our shower has to be fixed next week so it will be out of use. Because of this then, Jeanette has paid for a gym membership for me for this last month so I can go, workout, and then use the shower! I ran 5k, showered, changed, and caught the bus then to Marickville where I was meeting Jeanette and Lewis to go to a movie.
We finally all met around 5:30, caught a bus and then a train to the suburb we were going to. We then ate quick and got to the movie by 7.
The movie we saw was "The Mountain Between Us" and I thought it was really good. I don't think Lewis was a huge fan but he said it was mostly because they talked too fast and his English isn't the greatest right now which makes sense.
After the movie then, we caught the train and then walked home. It was a ways, but it was better than having to wait for the buses and then walk home anyway from the bus stop.
We finally got home around 8:50. I got ready for bed, read a chapter in my book, and went to bed. It had been a long, but fun day! :)

Today I got up, got ready, ate breakfast, and then one of Jeanette's friends gave Jeanette and me a ride to where I normally get off for school. This was really nice and convenient because it was pouring rain this morning.
Because of this then, I was about 15 minutes early so I had to wait for Mr. Engelbert to let me in but oh well.
He finally arrived around 8. I then got the board ready with the schedule, my quote, and the correct date. Then we discussed my lessons for the day.
Around 8:30 the students started to arrive and they did really well and sitting down and reading while they waited for everyone to arrive which was really good.
The day went on as it normally does except at 11:40, my supervisor came in and observed my math lesson. We then discussed how he think it went and also gave me some pointers on what to improve. He said I did a really good job and the couple things he mentioned to improve we just minor things which means I must be doing something right and getting the hang of it somewhat! :)
After going over the homework and spelling words for the week then, the students went off to music. I corrected some of their work from math before I took off for home.
I got home around 4:30 and relaxed until 5. Then I did a 45 minute workout off my app, went for a 3.25 mile run/walk, got back and did a 15 minute ab workout while I waited for the shower.
I finally showered quickly and then it was time for supper.
After supper, I helped put away as much as I could, then I updated my blog, got ready for bed, read some of my book, and went to bed around 9:30!

Lunch = yogurt + mango + falafel ball + spinach triangle + little pizza + humus + salad + water

Today I got up at 7:15, got ready, and met Anne at the bus stop to go to church.
Once we got to the suburb, we met up with one of her friends at the little cafe we were going to eat at and had breakfast. Every time I go, I meet someone new and it's really cool.
Church was from 10-12. The main pastor was gone, so his wife preached today and it was a really good message. They have a way of adding some humor and making it more relatable. This is nice because it makes it easier to understand and also not so 'heavy'. I'm so thankful I found a church while I'm here. It adds that little part to make the whole experience even better.
After church then, Anne went to meet a friend for lunch so I looked around the mall for about 45 minutes. I didn't find anything I wanted or wanted to give as presents, so I saved some money today which is good.
I left around 1. I got on a train, then a bus, then finally walked the rest of the way home. I finally arrived home around 2.
I then ate some lunch quickly before calling my parents to check in.
Once I got off the phone with them, I put away some laundry and then talked to Luke for awhile.
*Everyone keeps asking how the long distance thing is working. For us, it has made us stronger. I can't say that will be the case for everyone, but if you base your relationship on trust (and faith) it will go well. So just keep an open mind (both people in the relationship) and don't worry about it because 1. it will either workout and be great, or 2. it wasn't meant to be in the end anyways. Just some advice I have for those people who are deciding whether or not to study abroad. I would say communicate, but also be supportive for each other and hopefully that other person realizes how great of an opportunity this is! :)
I then did quite a bit of lesson planning for the week. I'm teaching some math, topic, and drama this week!
Then it was time for supper. I ate, then worked more on lesson planning, updated my blog, got ready for bed, read some in my book, and went to bed around 9:30.

Once we got to the suburb, we met up with one of her friends at the little cafe we were going to eat at and had breakfast. Every time I go, I meet someone new and it's really cool.
Church was from 10-12. The main pastor was gone, so his wife preached today and it was a really good message. They have a way of adding some humor and making it more relatable. This is nice because it makes it easier to understand and also not so 'heavy'. I'm so thankful I found a church while I'm here. It adds that little part to make the whole experience even better.
After church then, Anne went to meet a friend for lunch so I looked around the mall for about 45 minutes. I didn't find anything I wanted or wanted to give as presents, so I saved some money today which is good.
I left around 1. I got on a train, then a bus, then finally walked the rest of the way home. I finally arrived home around 2.
I then ate some lunch quickly before calling my parents to check in.
Once I got off the phone with them, I put away some laundry and then talked to Luke for awhile.
*Everyone keeps asking how the long distance thing is working. For us, it has made us stronger. I can't say that will be the case for everyone, but if you base your relationship on trust (and faith) it will go well. So just keep an open mind (both people in the relationship) and don't worry about it because 1. it will either workout and be great, or 2. it wasn't meant to be in the end anyways. Just some advice I have for those people who are deciding whether or not to study abroad. I would say communicate, but also be supportive for each other and hopefully that other person realizes how great of an opportunity this is! :)
I then did quite a bit of lesson planning for the week. I'm teaching some math, topic, and drama this week!
Then it was time for supper. I ate, then worked more on lesson planning, updated my blog, got ready for bed, read some in my book, and went to bed around 9:30.

11-4-2017
Weather: High of 65 degrees. Overcast skies and rainy
Breakfast = fresh fruit + yogurt + 1 slice peanut butter toast + milk
Lunch = mango + banana + a 'nut' bar (energy bar) + water
Supper = salad + brisket + steamed veggies + mint chocolate chip ice cream + lemonade + water
Today, I got up at 8:30. I've had so much to do for the past couple weeks that this is the latest I've 'slept in' for quite awhile. One I got up, I washed my lights (I did the darks last night) and got things going. I had breakfast and got ready while Jeanette and Paul went to run and errand and also pick up my package from the post office.
Once they got back, I got things ready and Paul, Jeanette, and I left for the day. We were dropping Jeanette at her daughter's place to then go on to a baby shower. Paul and I were then onto Featherdale Wildlife Park for the day.
Traffic was backed up so it took us about an hour to get to where we were dropping Jeanette off and then and hour past that to get to Featherdale.
We finally got to Featherdale around 1:30. It was really cool and a day well spent. All the animals were out because it wasn't too hot for them so that was good. I got to pet Red-Necked Pademelon, some other types of kangaroos, and also a koala. All of the animals here were native to Australia. It was a lot of fun!
On the way back then, we picked Jeanette up and I got to meet her daughter (Lisa), her daughter's husband (Andrew), and got to see their daughter (Adeline) again. Her daughter just finisher student teaching in a 5th and 6th grade classroom so we talked a little about that which was nice.
We finally got home around 6:30. Jeanette started supper while I did some homework. We ate then around 7.
After supper then, I helped as much as I could to put away supper and then I started on updating my blog and homework. I hope to work on this until 9, get ready for bed, read a chapter from my book, and go to bed. I'm meeting a friend at 8:20 to go to church in the morning so hopefully I can get some stuff done and also get a lot of sleep tonight.

11-3-2017 Day 2 of camp!
Weather: High of 80 degrees. Sunny. Chance of showers in the evening
Breakfast = cereal and milk + orange juice
Lunch = salad + fish and chips + water
Supper = salad + steamed veggies + beef + falafel burger + water + cheesecake
Today I got up around 6:50, got ready, and packed up my bags by 7:25. We then went over to the dining hall for breakfast.
After this, we went over to the meeting auditorium and played some games that worked on their teamwork and bonding skills.
From here then, we went over to rock climbing. This was really fun and because they had done the high ropes yesterday, they really did well on the rock climbing.
We finished up with these activities around 12:15. We then went over to the dining hall for lunch.
From here then, we went back to the auditorium to play some games as one big group while we waited for the bust.
The bus finally came and we were off. We got back to the school around 3:30 so just in time for pick up.
I then helped with pickup, got the bus, and got back home around 5:15. I was super tired, but I showered, did some laundry, and caught up on my blog and other little things before supper.
We then ate supper and around 8:30 I finished up my blog updates. I then got ready for bed, read for a bit, and went to sleep around 9:30. Tomorrow I plan to go shopping or something, but I also have quite a bit of prep work to do. Wish me luck, but only 5 weeks left! :)

11-2-2017 First day of camp!
Weather: High of 70 degrees with sunshine. Low chance of showers in the evening
Breakfast = fresh fruit + yogurt + 1 slice peanut butter toast + hard boiled egg + milk
Lunch = chicken, lettuce, cucumber, dressing wrap + water
Supper = beef, rice, and steamed veggies + brownie + water
Today I woke up, got ready, packed the rest of my bags, and ate breakfast. Then my cab picked me up at 6:50 to get to the school by 7:30. I ended up getting to the school at 7:15 so I had enough time to get a hot chocolate.
We then waited until 7:50 because there was one student who wasn't there yet.
Finally she arrived, we loaded the buses (2) and took off to our outdoor ed camp. 5 teachers, 2 student teachers, and about 75 5th graders. :)
We left around 8 and got to the camp around 9:30. Once we got there, we split into our groups and started on our first activities after morning tea.
Our first activity was a high ropes course. This was great because it got the kids working together and helping each other by motivating and cheering them on as they climbed. From here, we went to kite making which was actually a lot more fun then I thought it would be and the kids really enjoyed it too.
Once we finished that, they put their bags into their cabins and then we headed over to the dining hall for lunch.
After lunch, we went for a little hike to a rock pond. A few of the students saw a couple snakes but luckily I didn't see them so everything was fine.
Next, we went 'mountain biking'. I say this with quotation marks because it was really just biking down a gravel/sand path. It was still fun though. Two of the students had never biked before then, so Mr. Engelbert stayed back to help them and by the time we got back, they were riding around like pros! It was awesome and really rewarding.
Finally, we let them have about 20 minutes to shower before supper. About half of the group got through so the other half would have to wait until after supper.
We then headed over to the dining hall again and had a really good supper.
Next, they had about 20 minutes again to get their showers in before we went over to the meeting auditorium for the movie.
We watched half of Gnomeo and Juliet, then they headed back to their rooms and had to have lights off by 8:45. This seems early, but the kids were exhausted and they had to be ready by 7:30 breakfast in the morning so it was a good time.
Once we had everyone settled and lights off, I got ready for bed and checked my phone for a bit.
I then went to sleep at 10. I was exhausted as well!
