12-3-2017

Weather: High of 80 degrees with mostly sunny and clear skies!

Breakfast = fresh fruit + yogurt + hard boiled egg + water w/ electrolytes
Lunch = fruit + sandwich + water
Supper = Sandwich + nut mix + water w/ electrolytes + cheesecake

Today I got up and started updating my blog. I wanted to try and get it done before I had to leave for church. This didn't happen since when I tried to upload it, nothing saved so I had to retype it. Oh well, I'm getting it taken care of tonight! I then got ready quick, ate breakfast, and walked to the bus stop where I met Anne to go to Jubilee for final time.
We took the bus and then two different trains to get there.
Once we arrived, we met two other ladies for a coffee and then headed to church. Church went from 10 until a little after 12. There was then a lunch afterwards for the volunteers so Anne stayed, but I headed back to the mall/ station where I was supposed to meet Carol. She was taking a lot longer then I thought and she wasn't getting my texts so I decided just to go. I didn't want to waste one of my last days by not going to the beach.
Finally, as the bus I was on was leaving I saw her. I headed to the beach, quick changed, and then waited at the bus stop but I didn't see her then. So, I decided just to spend the day by myself tanning (sun baking). It was awesome and so relaxing.
I finally left Bondi Beach around 5:30 to head home. I took a bus, then 2 trains, and another bus to get home. Funny enough, I ran into Carol at the train station closest to us. It was really funny!
I finally got home around 6:45, showered and then started in on my last assignment for capstone. It's due Monday at noon but I wanted to get it done now because I have to give my computer back tomorrow. I was almost finished anyway.
Jeanette got home around 8 and we talked for a bit. I also had some dessert as a break. I then finished my homework, updated all of my blogs, got ready for bed, and finally went to bed around 11:30. My last week starts tomorrow! I can't believe how fast it's gone! :)

*0 Sundays left
*2 days of school left!
*4 days until I come home! :)

12-2-2017

Weather: High of 78 degrees with high chance of rain for most of the day.

Breakfast = fresh fruit + yogurt + 1 slice peanut butter toast + water w/ electrolytes because I've been getting some terrible cramps in my right leg behind my knee in the middle of the night when I'm sleeping so hopefully this helps with that problems!
Lunch = sandwich + fruit + water
Supper = chicken + steamed veggies + water + ice cream

Today Paul, Jeanette, Carol (the girl Jeanette met at the bus stop one day and helped her get to school), and I left for the Blue Mountains around 8:20 on the bus. We then got a train to Central station and left from there around 9:15. We were supposed to arrive around 11:25, but the train was so slow and delayed on the tracks so we didn't arrive until 12:15ish.
We then had to wait forever to get a bus so we decided to walk, but then Carol wanted to buy a raincoat so we did that. By then we decided we'd wait for the bus but then the drivers got a little break due to it being over lunch. This whole week has been filled with waiting so I don't know what's going on!
Finally we got a bus, and as we were getting out of the bathroom it started to pour. We waited it out before heading down to the Three Sisters Point. As we were walking back up though, it started to pour again so we got soaked. Carol was glad she had bought her raincoat!
We then left that spot and headed to scenic world. Here you could pay to go on the cable car, rail car, or do the walk. Well it was raining still and we didn't want to pay for something that gave you basically the same view as just standing on the balcony, so we looked around the shop and headed back into town.
Once we were back, we got the train to Leura which was the first stop heading back to Sydney. Here they had some cute little shops and candy stores that we looked around in for a little over an hour.
Then, due to the rain the train wasn't due back for another 20 minutes so back to the shops we went in the pouring rain. This wasn't a nice warm spring rain either, it was a chilly up in the 'mountains'.
Finally, we got the train and started on our way back.
We got back to Sydney around 6:30, caught another train, a bus, and then walked the rest of the way home. It had been an interesting day but I'm glad I got to see the Blue Mountains before going home.

*0 Saturdays left!
*2 days of school left!
*5 days until I come home!

The Blue Mountains. It was quite breathtaking!

Today I got up, got ready, ate breakfast, and walked to the bus stop. I then got to school around 8 and talked to my teacher about the day. I didn't really have to plan anything so that was good.
The day then went on, not really like normal because we had so much to get done so it got placed in random spots that would work. We got it all done though so that was good.
We were done with the student around 12:20 and then I went and met with my supervisor (Mr. Hamper) to go over my final evaluation and meet one last time. Yay! :)
After this then, I ate my lunch quick.
I then caught a bus and walked the rest of the way to Jeanette's work so I could drop off some of my stuff because I was heading to the beach. The kids had gotten me some gifts for the end of term which was really sweet of them, but I then had a lot to carry.
I then got directions on how to get to Coogee Beach from that area and off I went.
On the bus I ended up meeting a lady, who was probably in her 60s, from Hawaii. She was here on vacation for about 10 days. We visited and she showed my how to get to the beach from the bus stop which was really nice. I love meeting people and it's even better when they are from the US! :)
Once I got to the beach, I changed into my swimsuit (swimmers) and laid in the sun to tan (sun bake). This was so nice to be able to relax and soak up some sun before I got home!
I left the beach around 6ish and caught a bus into Newtown where I would then switch buses to go home. I ended up meeting a friend at the bus stop who asked if I wanted to come get a few drinks and then go watch a band play. I decided on going, and it ended up being pretty fun.
I left around 10:30, caught the bus and walked home. Don't worry, I called Luke to talk on the phone while I walked home because it was late, dark, and I was alone so this is always a good solution!
Once I got home, I talked to Jeanette for a bit and went straight to bed. We have and early morning tomorrow!

*Next Friday I'll be flying out!
*Only 2 more days of school left!
*6 days until I come home!

Coogee Beach! Also, it was super windy today so the sand was blowing all over so that wasn't too fun, but it was still nice to be able to go and relax. *I'm still cleaning sand out of my hair and ears (on Sunday)!

Today I woke up feeling not the greatest. I had a slight headache, my head felt like it was going to explode because my sinuses were tight, and I had a sore throat. This week had been exhausting so I knew I just needed to get more sleep. I got ready, ate some breakfast, and went to the bus stop anyway. I had made it this long without missing a day so I didn't want to start now. I got to the school a little after 8 and got the board and my materials ready for the day.
Once the students came in, they got settled and I took the roll quick before we had to make our way to the theatre room. This process was difficult because I sounded like I was losing my voice due to my sore throat.
Finally we made our way to the theatre room and they started their performances. They did so good, but the first two groups went way over time so we only got through four groups in a little over an hour. Hopefully we can get this room again, otherwise there is going to be tears.
After this, the day went on like normal until 1. Normally we have sport on Thursdays, but we were finished with sport last week so today we got ready and headed down to the hall where we would be watching the year 6 farewell assembly until the end of the day. During this assembly, there were instruments, singing, dancing, and a big play put on by all the year 6 students. It was really good, long, but good.
After school then, I started making my cards that I was going to give to the students at our little awards/gifts party on Friday. I then checked Pinterest to see what little food treat I could make for them.
After getting through about half of the cards, I caught a bus and then walked the rest of the way to Jeanette's work where I was going to help her decorated the office area for Christmas. This was a lot of fun and it looks very festive now!
After this, we then went to the store so I could pick up some supplies to make a 'smore starter kit for the kids. I found a little thing on Pinterest that showed this and it then said 'I wish I had 'smore time with you'. I thought this was perfect because not only was it cute, 'smores aren't a big thing here so it was like the Australian version of a 'smore kit! Jeanette also had to get a few things for supper so this worked out well.
We then caught a train, a bus, and then walked the rest of the way home. We ate quick and then I went straight to bed. Gotta try and beat this cold somehow. Yay for Friday tomorrow! :)

*Only 1 Thursday left
*Only 3 days of school left
*7 days until I come home! :)

*There was a meeting at 4-4:30 that I went to that talked about what the plan was for next week dealing with speech day/night and picnic day.

Today I got up, got ready, ate breakfast, and got to the school around 8. I then got materials and the board ready, talked to Mr. Engelbert about the day's plan and what we were going to day.
The day then carried on like normal until the class party. During this time, the parents brought in popcorn and fresh fruit as snacks for the kids. Some students then showered their presentation about some activities they had done this year. Next, the parents gave Mr. Engelbert and I some gifts. I was giving two packets of Australian picture books, some magnets and a sign to put in my future classroom, and a packet of solar system erasers. This was so awesome and I am so grateful for these. The party was really fun, but the students got popcorn all over and were being crazy. Students need structure, but at this age they should be able to be flexible and take on whatever comes in to their day scheduled or not.
After school then, I corrected some work and got the board ready for the next day before the meeting. After the meeting then, I got my stuff packed up and headed to the bus stop, then the train station, and got a train to Circular Quay where I was going to meet a friend from Spain who I had meet in Queenstown, New Zealand! We were supposed to meet around 5:20, but she asked if we could meet around 6 because she wasn't going to make it on time. I said this was perfect because I had been wanting to walk around the botanical gardens so this was great. I walked around the gardens until about 6 and then I met my friend, we went and got our tickets for the orchestra and the headed to the Opera Bar to get a drink and catch up while we waited.
After awhile then, we walked to a fish and chips place so I could get some fries. I wasn't super hungry so the fries were perfect.
While we were walked back though, I was walked and eating and a stupid seagull came down and stole my half eaten fry out of my fingers. I couldn't believe it! They have no fear and they are so annoying.
We then got back to by the Opera House and chatted until around 8 when the performance was going to start.
We then took our seats. There was three songs performed. The orchestra played for all three but for the first one a lady sang (opera), a man sang for the second (opera), and the same lady but different man sang for the last (more opera). This lasted from 8-10:15ish. My friend and I both agreed that it was good, but we weren't much for opera singing.
After the performance then, we walked together to the train station, said our goodbyes, then she left to walk back to her hostel, and I got a train to go home.
I got home around 11:30, talked to Jeanette, then went straight to bed. For those of you wondering, no I haven't died, I've just been super busy and tired but I'm working on updating it so don't worry and I'm sorry for the delay.
